Parents, Ever Catch Yourself Thinking These Frustrations?

  • Why does my capable 7th grader still struggle with essays?

  • How come my teen can't organize his time and  weekly assignments?

  • I want my child to be two steps ahead of the game academicallyhow can I make that happen?

  • Will my teen succeed in college? Am I doing enough?

  • If my 9th grader can't complete a well-done paragraph at this point, how will he succeed in life?

  • My daughter has specific reading challenges, and I feel lost about how to help.

These struggles don't have to define your student's academic future.

Get Inside Your Student's Learning Brain

My weekly newsletter breaks down what’s really happening inside students’ brains as they learn to read, write, communicate, and think critically—plus easy ways you can help at home or in the classroom. Clear, actionable, and always grounded in research.

A Little About Me

I'm Kristen, a longtime teacher, seasoned school counselor, and certified story enthusiast.

I’ve spent years studying brain development and how students learn best. One thing is clear: the frontal cortex isn’t fully developed until around age 25—yet we often expect kids and teens to handle tasks they’re not developmentally ready for.

That’s why I take a different approach.

Whether your child is feeling stuck, struggling to keep up, or ready to reach new heights, I guide them step-by-step, giving them the tools and confidence to move forward.
